Back Home

I made it safely home Sunday afternoon. It's good to be back. I'm on vacation this week and loving it.

New Jackie Greene Web Site

Check out http://www.streamjackiegreene.com/

It's got rare, live, unreleased, and a few released Jackie songs and are pretty much all great. Start with 'Talkin' Midtown Women' for one cool talkin' blues song like an early Dylan (recorded when he was 19) and 'There is no Wrong' for some nice slide work.

The site was made in collaboration with Jackie himself, I guess, so you're not downloading bootlegs or anything like that.

5 Days

5 more days and I'm going home...it's about time-I've been here long enough. The desert is cool for awhile but I'm ready for a vacation to the north woods. The other day we had a crazy dust storm come through -- wind gusts to 40-50 mph they said on the news and dust everywhere. Palm trees blowing around in the wind.

Had a nice big Easter dinner with my grandparents and aunt and uncle today. That was very nice.

Ghost Repeater

Just got a new album by Jeffrey Foucault called Ghost Repeater. He's one of my favorite folk singers. On this album, he's got a full backing band. Just started listening to it -- it's really good so far.

I had to buy it while I was down here because track 10 is called Mesa, Arizona. Check out samples at: http://www.younghunter.com/ghostrepeater.html

Oak Flats Trip #4

Made it up to Oak Flats yet again yesterday. Pretty fruitful day. Ran into another group who were looking for the Maze. One person in their group had been there a long time ago so between the directions I had got from people at the gym and her memory, we eventually found it. So I climbed there yesterday. Pretty cool stuff. All I sent was a cool warm-up problem and a pretty hard scary slab problem but worked on some harder stuff (the pictured arete) before tearing my fingers up yet again. Also, the group I ran into showed me the alternate road to drive up to the bouldering area which isn't as rough as the road out of the campground that I knew about, so now I can drive up to the area next time instead of walking up.
