Lake Tahoe

On Wednesday after work, Brent, Aaron J. and myself drove up the hour an half into the Sierra Nevadas and up to the city of South Lake Tahoe. One of prettiest drives I've been on -- compares with anything I've seen in Colorado even. S. Lake Tahoe is really cool. Lots of shops and old buildings all right on the shore of Lake Tahoe with the mountains all around it. South Lake Tahoe is in CA and Lake Tahoe is in Nevada as the border goes right through town. It was pretty funny to see casinos built literally _right_ up to the Nevada border.

We were only in town for 2 1/2 hours. We ate at the Lake Tahoe Brewery which was pretty good and then walked into the Harrah Casino (since we parked only a a block from the state line) and each gambled and lost about $2 in the quarter slot machines.

The Word from Folsom

I've been in this eastern Sacramento suburb since late Sunday night. Got in late that night -- to bed sometime around 2 or so I think (pacific time, which was 4 central). This was after not getting much of any sleep Saturday night so I've been pretty tired these first few days.

Interesting thing happened tonight after supper. There are 6 of us stayin' in this hotel. We got back after eating and all 6 of our room cards had quit working. We all ended up meeting back at the front desk, unknowingly and shocked as we realized what happened. There must have been a weird magnetic disturbance or something at the restaurant.

Went to the Powerhouse Pub tonight as well (I have a big "PHP" stamped on my hand now). That is a cool bar (karaoke night tonight as well). Got to see alot of the classic california types tonight. Alot of pretty girls, alot of guys goin' for the pretty girls, and alot of not so pretty girls with a pretty girl attitude (or the 30-40 year olds trying to pass for the 21 year olds).

Two more working days than I'm flying back Friday morning.

Superior Hiking Trail

Haven't updated this in awhile so figured I'd upload some pics from my recent Superior Hiking Trail trip with Adam, Eric, Lee, and Nate. Four days, about 25 miles. Very hard work for me. I'm not in the best shape and I think I looked like an old man by the end. But it was fun and we all made it.
